Sagolband MLA debunks NPF charges against State govt

IMPHAL, February 14: The MLA Sagolband Assembly Constituency, RK Imo, in a reaction to Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) allegation against State government that the latter was obstructing and scuttling the NSCN (IM) and Central government “Framework Agreement” is wrong and baseless.

He however said the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur should not be allowed to be compromised by any deal the two parties make.

The MLA said this while inaugurating a community hall at Keisampat Mutum Leikai today.

He continued that the government has no interest in standing in the way of their agreement and the government finds no intent of interfering if the NSCN (IM) wants control over Nagaland, but the NPF and NSCN (IM) must keep in mind that their agreement must not be designed to destroy Manipur and the bonding among people.

The government will however always maintain a firm stand to fight any threat to Manipur’s territorial and emotional integrity.

RK Imo further debunked the NPF charge that the State government is neglecting developmental projects in hills areas.

He mentioned that elected NPF MLAs had submitted their resignation papers to the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, and they have thereafter not appeared in the Assembly session.

This notwithstanding, they still take their salaries and all the benefits given by the State government as the representative of the people.

If they consider that they have resigned from their post they should not accept their salaries too and must avoid all the benefit given by the government, he said and added that they should not play trick on the people.

He continued that such wedges coming from sections cause tension among the people and created antagonism against each other. As the people of Manipur and representative of people of the State, everybody should work for unity to bring equal development, he added.

The MLA also demanded the establishment of a committee to look into the matter for the modification of eligibility condition for the Manipur Civil Service Combined Competitive Examination and will apprising in the CPL meeting about the issue to give preference to the candidates of Manipur.

He lauded the steps taken up by some Joint Students Coordinating Committee (JSCC) which will be a benefit for the people of the State.

Earlier, speaking on the inaugural function of the community hall, he said that the community halls which have come up in Sagolband constituency will among other provide much needed space for religious and other social functions of the communities.

The community hall which inaugurated today was constructed at an estimate of Rs 20 lakh from MDS and Local Area Development Fund.

He continued that around seven to eight community hall in the constituency are in the pipe line for the inauguration and have constructed several community halls considering for the welfare.

Moreover the development work for the constituency will be taken up as per the importance and need of the people.

During the function President of Yumjao Lairembi Development Committee, Mutum Nilakomon and Counselor of ward no. 8, K Tikendro attended the function.
