IMPHAL, February 29: The All Loktak Lake Area Fishermen Union Manipur has sought a clarification from the Loktak Development Authority chairman Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on the issue of Loktak Lake.

Speaking to a select media group, ALLAFUM secretary Oinam Rajen Singh said a huge fund amounting crores of rupees have been sanctioned by the Centre for the cleaning of the lake in the name of tourism development.

He questioned as to how much amount under the Special plan Assistance for conservation and management of the lake has been released for the process of cleaning the lake till date, and as to how much of the amount has been used.

He further demanded as to how many hut dwellers of the lake have been compensated.

Asking if it is true that the work order was rewarded to the PCL Company Hyderabad on a trial basis with a sanctioned amount of Rs 3.36 crore, he demanded as to how such an important project could be awarded on a trial basis.

He continued how the State government could award a huge project of Rs 224 crores to the K-Pro just days after awarding the project to PCL Company and how the work was awarded to a single bidder without the conduct of any re-tendering of the project.

He further demanded the LDA to provide the details of K-Pro, which is learnt to have received a Rs 22 crore mobilisation fund for the project without any interest even after the work was given to K-Pro.

He further demanded the government to clear the issues during the ongoing Assembly session and for the BJP MLAs to show where they stand on the issue.
