Aquarium exhibition cum flower show inaugurated

IMPHAL, March 31: The 4th State level aquarium exhibition cum flower show organised by the Manipur Science & Technology Council and Aquarium and Floriculture Entrepreneurs was inaugurated today at the Manipur Science Aquarium, DM College Campus, Imphal.

The week long exhibition cum flower show was inaugurated by State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre Manipur Kh Rajen Singh as chief guest of the inaugural function.

After formally inaugurating the show, Rajen said that the aquarium exhibition will be an eye-opener for many people including himself.

He said maintaining an aquarium has turned out to be a lot easier than we had expected.

Those participating in the exhibition have also explained the issues concerning the maintenance of aquariums, he added.

Rajen also spoke on the issue of global warming and said it is a global issue and every resource person speaking on the issue have raised the need for more tree plantation.

He said, but just planting tree saplings is not the solution.

People should be aware of how to plant tree saplings, he said further adding that maintaining the eco-system is also a very important issue.

He further called for the need to organise seminars on eco-system to disperse awareness on the issue.

The State level aquarium exhibition cum flowers show is being supported by the National Council for Science & Technology Communications, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Spot painting competition and written quiz for the students will also be held during the week long programme.

Experts on aquarium will also experiment breeding of fish during the programme.

Principal DM College of Commerce Dr Ph Ibomcha Sharma and Director MASTEC, Imphal Th Surendranath Singh were also present during the inaugural session as guest of honour and president respectively.
