BJP demands CBI investigation in Hindi teacher killing case

IMPHAL, March 3: BJP Manipur general secretary M Asnikumar has demanded the handing over the investigation of assistant teacher Ts Thongkhogin Haokip case to the CBI or the NIA.

Speaking to media persons today at his office chamber, Asnikumar said the Home department of the State has failed to nab and book the suspected culprits involved in the assault of the Hindi assistant teacher of Molnom Village, Chandel, although it is five days since the day of the incident.

The JAC formed in this connection has also refused to accept the body until the culprits are booked under the law, he added.

Now, although the wife of the deceased has already identified the names of the three allegedly involved in the assault, the police are unable to nab them, he added.

He said the incident has triggered an unprecedented tension in the area, which has also created several problems in maintenance of law and order in the area.

Asnikumar said it is also learnt that some leaders spearheading the JAC’s agitation have received life threats.

He said the issue has become a sensitive one.

All these can only mean that the State administration is a total failure in the hill districts, he said adding that the hill districts have become lawless where the government is unable to reach.

Unfortunately, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister who holds the Home portfolio and the local MLA has also failed to even reach out to the victimised villagers, he said, and pointed out further that the government is unable to safeguard its own people.

Such incidents, he said have been frequently witnessed in the State, however, till date, the government is unable to nab a single culprit and award punishment, he asserted.

The BJP Manipur takes all these seriously, and demand the handing over of the case to the CBI or the NIA to conduct the investigation, he added.

The CBI or the NIA cannot be influence by any underground group and will conduct the investigation without any biasness, he added.
