IMPHAL, February 29: BJP Nambol Mandal president Salam Brajamani has charged misuse of huge tourism development funds in Bishnupur district sanctioned by the Centre and further warned to approach the CBI to investigate the same.

Nambol BJP workers today staged a sit in protest at the Nambol market condemning the Chief Minister and local MLA N Loken for misusing the funds meant for construction of tourism components in the constituency.

Speaking to media persons, Brajamani claimed that although a total of Rs 120 crores was sanctioned for the construction fo cafeteria, parking and toilet facilities at Nambol Koriphaba, the construction visible are nor proportionate to the funds sanctioned.

He claimed that the State government has awarded the construction work of tourist lodge, parking space and compound fencing of the three integrated tourist circuit projects to the Manipur Development Society in the year 2011-12; however, the constructions are yet to be completed.

The MDS has been able to complete only 30 percent of the construction for the Integrated Tourist Circuit Project although the utilisation certificate has already been submitted, he claimed.

This is a clear indication of the corrupt practices of the CM and the local MLA, he added.

He further asserted that the Nambol mandal of the BJP along with the people will take legal help and also approach the CBI to investigate and to find the truth.

He continued there is also no response from the State government on the issue till date.

He said similar demonstrations were also held at various places of the district including at Nambol, Bishnupur, Moirang, Kumbi, Thanga etc.
