Chandel Nagas celebrate GRPN/NSCN republic day

IMPHAL, March 21: The 37th republic day of the GPRN/ NSCN (IM) was celebrated at district sports complex, Chandel Christian village in Chandel district today.

GPRN kilonser (minister) of education David Mero Chakeshang and CNPO president Ws Kanral Anal graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Besides, GPRN kilonsers, tatars (MLAs), rank and files of GPRN/NSCN, various tribe leaders, representatives from NGOs, churches, student body, civil societies, chiefs and people from different villages attended the gathering.

Unfurling of the Naga national flag, parade display by Naga Army, presidential speech read out by the chief guest, cultural dance display and lunch were the main highlight of the celebration.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, CNPO president WS Kanral Anal appeal all to build up good relation with all communities in the state for peaceful co existence.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) care taker of Khurmi region, GPRN, Deputy Kionser T s Prem while speaking on the occasion reiterated the regional authority stand to protect the land and resources that belong to the Nagas.

Expressing unhappiness over the functioning of the Chandel ADC at Imphal valley instead of Chandel district headquarters, Ts Prem strongly criticised the four Nagas elected MDC who according to him were responsible for masking the ADC function at Imphal, to reconsider their stand and helped the ADC to function in Chandel in the interest of the Nagas.

The presidential speech of Isak Chishi Swu which was read out to the gathering by Kilonser David Mero Chakeshang greeted the Naga people in the name of the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and paid homage to the martyrs whose sacrificial services have enabled the Naga people came thus far.
