IMPHAL, March 15: A one-day environment awareness cum painting and poster campaign under the theme “Combating desertification land degradation and drought” was held at Patsoi Part I yesterday.
The programme was organised by the Youth Foundation Patsoi part I under the sponsorship of Directorate of Environment under the National Environment Awareness Campaign.
Altogether 120 people including 45 students participated in the programme, during which plants like mango, neem, guava, lemon and other citrus fruit bearing trees were planted in the surrounding areas of Patsoi and Langjing of Imphal West.
On the other hand, the Social Enlightenment and Welfare Association Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Imphal East also organised a one day environment Awareness campaign by holding a painting competition yesterday on the topic “Combating desertification land degradation and drought” at Top Moirang Kampu Imphal as part of the National Environment Awareness Campaign.
Meanwhile, a training camp on organic manure and bio-pest preparation was also conducted for 35 rural farmers at its training hall today.
