KANGPOKPI, March 31: In a bid to contain anti-social activities including exorbitant taxes, kidnap, abduction, drugs, etc in Kangpokpi town and its adjoining areas a large number of women took out a rally which went through the main thoroughfare of the Kangpokpi town today.
The hundreds strong rally saw participation solely by women from a cross section of the society, irrespective of communities.
The first protest rally of its kind in the area was organized after the women held a fasting prayer at Kangpokpi Christian Church from early in the morning for peaceful coexistence among all communities within the town and its surrounding areas.
Showing their detestation against the acts of extortion, abduction, robberies, drugs and other unruly activities in the town, the women rallyist exhibited placards written “Stop abductions”, “Stop exorbitant collection/taxes, Enough is Enough”, “Say no to intoxicant”, etc. during the rally.
The women rallyist also unanimously resolved to intensely opposed such activities from now within the town.
