KIM, KSO condemn Chandel killing, gives 24 hrs ultimatum

KANGPOKPI, February 29: Kuki Inpi Manipur and Kuki Students’ Organization-GHQ have jointly condemned the brutal killing Molnom Junior High School Headmaster allegedly by Aimol Satu villagers yesterday night at Aimol Satu village under Tengnoupal Sub-Division in Chandel district.

The joint statement of the Kuki Inpi Manipur KSO-GHQ said that the deceased L. Thongkhogin, Headmaster of Molnom Junior High School was waylaid by villagers of Aimol Satu while returning from Pallel bazar at around 4:30 pm yesterday and cold-bloodedly beaten.

It continued to allege that the culprits in the unlawful crime abandon the Headmaster thinking he was dead but the victim who was still alive manage to reach his home at around 8 pm.

However, he succumbed to his injury at around 2 am this morning, it added.

Vehemently decrying the incident, Kuki Inpi Manipur and KSO-GHQ recalled that the killing of L. Thongkhogin is not first episode of such killing in the area ever since the NSCN-IM started lodging at Aimol Satu village while adding that another two innocent Kuki people namely Manglun Aimol Kuki and Lalcha Gangte had been mercilessly killed in the past few months.

“The key factor for such killing and sore environment in the area is the lodging of NSCN-IM cadres at Aimol Satu village and its adjoining areas”, alleged the joint press statement of KIM and KSO-GHQ.

Calling the urgent attention of both the state Government and centre Government over the accommodation NSCN-IM at Aimol Satu village and its adjoining areas, Kuki Inpi Manipur and KSO-GHQ asked both the Governments to intercede instantly in matters so as to bring peaceful environment in the area.

In the meantime, the two Kuki civil bodies give 24 hr ultimatum to the state Government to nap the culprits in the killing of L. Thongkhogin before cautioning that if the Government fails to response positively within the stipulated time, the Kuki community could engage in anything that could fetch us justice over the incident.
