IMPHAL, March 31: The Harimati Dance and Music Centre, Porompat conducted a lecture programme on “Dance and Music” at the Standard English School today.
The programme was held after a school campus cleaning exercise under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Director of the centre Naorem Harimati and her artists along with the principal of the school Jiten and students conducted the cleanliness drive to keep the school environment clean.
Speaking to media persons in the sideline of the cleanliness drive, Harimati said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a clean country for a healthy society.
Today’s cleanliness drive was also in support of the mission, she added.
Harimati also delivered a lecture on ‘Dance and Music’ before the students.
She said dance and music are inseparable from the humans.
Our Manipuri dance and music are also known far and wide, she added.
She said every child should atleast have the basic knowledge of the Manipuri dance forms and music so that they may help in preserving the arts and culture of the land.
It may be mentioned that artistes of the centre had also conducted a similar cleanliness drive at the Bal-Bidya Mandir Higher Secondary School Porompat along with students of the school.
