BISHNUPUR, March 18: Locals of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikei in Imphal West today dismantled the house of a couple charging the two of extorting money from the general public. The two identified as Konjengbam Bhumeshwar and his wife K (o) Nirmala, 45 were arrested by a team of Imphal West cdo. It is learnt that letter heads of a banned outfit and handwritten demand letters to be delivered to several people were seized from their possession.

Today around noon, when the locals came to know that the two were also involved in the delivery of monetary demand letters to the Mekola PHC and the Mekola Veterinary Hospital, a mob converged before their house and dismantled it.

However, a Nambol Police team led by DSP (cdo) John came to the incident site and controlled the mob.

Later, the mob convened a meeting at the Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai market shed around 2pm.

During the meeting, the locals resolved to banish the two from the locality and that their families should bear responsibilities of their activities.
