IMPHAL, March 14: “If we do not realise now and hesitate to come together and be united as one family, we would suffer for more than 40 years” said Naga Hoho president P Chuba Ozukum today.

He was speaking at a one day mass consultation on the present Indo-Naga peace process at the Common Ground in Longmai (Noney), Tamenglong district.

The consultation was organised by the Longmai Area Vilages council (LAVC), Longmai Area Churches Fellowship and Naga tribes in Longmai area.

Chuba said the Nagas have been suffering for more than 40 years due to the political crisis and if today, the Naga people fail to realise this, they will not be able to achieve any goal.

The need of the hour is to unite, irrespective of tribes, clan and religion, and share feelings and thoughts of one another to bring a common political solution, he observed.

The Government of India is clear of its position and the Naga leaders will not cheat the people, he said of the present situation.

However, both Chief Ministers of Manipur and Assam have been demanding the government to reveal the contents of the framework agreement signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, he added.

Chuba said the framework agreement contains issues on shared sovereignty, it recognises the unique history of the Nagas and the universal principal that sovereignty lies with the people.

The public of Longmai area while appreciating the dynamic and decisive leadership of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and the collective leaderships of the NSCN urged to materialize the historic Indo-Naga Agreement based on the unique history of the Nagas and bring a logical conclusion at the earliest.
