Restaurant owner injured in gun attack dies

IMPHAL, March 16: The 41-year-old restaurant owner who was undergoing treatment after being shot at by miscreants on February 19 succumbed this morning around 6.

The woman, Romita Devi wife of L Senapati Singh of Khurai Angom Leikai received three bullet injuries, when miscreants shot at her and two other customers inside her restaurant Ningthibee Restaurant at Khurai Angom leikai under Lamlai Police Station.

Since the incident, she was being admitted and treated at the Raj Medicity, however, after her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to RIMS yesterday.

Meanwhile, speaking to IFP, a family member charged that Romita’s condition deteriorated only due to certain errors in treatment by doctors of Raj Medicity. He said the family has filed a case against Raj Medicity with the Imphal Police Station.

It is also learnt that regarding the case, a sitting of the State Medical Board will soon be convened.

Romita’s post mortem will be conducted only according to the decision of the board. It may be mentioned that the body has been deposited at the JNIMS morgue.
