‘41 million Indians have obesity problem’

IMPHAL, April 10: India has been registered with maximum number of people, numbering around 41 million, having obesity problem, said North East Coordinator of Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust) MC Binod during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here today.

He further said that seven types of cancer may arise from obesity but these can be combated by practicing 20 different styles of Yoga, which has been proven.

He maintained that the trust has been organising weekly Yoga camp as part of a research based nationwide campaign for obesity management.

As part of the campaign, a camp on obesity will be conducted at Thangmeiband Fitness Centre, THAU Ground on April 15 and 16. Similar camp will also be held at Model Club (Leimayol Art Centre) Singjamei Chinga Makha on April 18 and 19, he informed.

He added that participants have to pay a sum of Rs 2100 as camp contribution fee and Rs 3000 as security deposit.

The nation-wide campaign was also organised at the club wherein founder president of Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti, Manipur Saminder Kaur; Shah Prabhari, Manipur Patanjali Yog Samiti Th Janaki Devi; Instructor Anjila; president of Yuva Bharat M Prameshor; state coordinator North East Coordinator of Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust) Ratankumar Ningthouja attended.
