AR Jawan killed, three other injured in bomb blast

IMPHAL, April 14: A jawan of the 25th Assam Rifles (AR) was killed and three other personnel sustained injury in an IED explosion triggered by militant suspects last night near the AR transit camp Minuthong, Imphal.

According to reports the blast took place around 7.10 pm while the AR personnel were on normal duties infront of the camp.

The personnel as per routine were deploy infront and near the area of the entrance of the transit camp when the IED ripped off from opposite direction, premises walls of the Khuman Lampak Sports complex killing one and injuring three other personnel.

The deceased AR personnel has been identified as one Gukulchand Yadap, 32, son of Sultan Yadap of Rajasthan.

He was reportedly evacuated to RIMS and later reffered to Shija where he succumbed to his injury.

The injured personnel have been identified as one Hemansu Devnath, 31, son of Kamal Devnath of West Bengal (injured on right arm), Manikumar, 28, son of Gonourdas of Bihar (injured at right arm) and K Rameswhar, 32, son of Amuchou of Ingourok near Nongpok Sekmai.

Soon after the blast ,a team of Imphal West police arrived at the blast site to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, denouncing the bomb blast, residents staged a sit-in-protest demonstration nearby the blast site today.

The protest demonstration was participated by Ragailong Pei, Youth Club, Women’s Society.

Placards and banners which said, “Ragailong is not a battle field”, “We condemn the blast at public place”, “Enough is Enough” etc were displayed during the protest.
