BJP meeting resolves to demand Centre to probe scams under Ibobi government

IMPHAL, April 4: The State BJP today resolved to press the Centre to institute high level inquiry in the different corruption cases and scams related to the present Ibobi led Congress government in the State.

The resolution was arrived at during the State BJP executive meeting held at the Sangai Hall of the Hotel Classic today.

BJP Manipur in charge MP Prahlad Patel also attended the meeting as the chief guest. BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba presided over the meeting.

The party unanimously resolved to flash the corruption/scams related with the Ibobi led Congress government in Manipur before the public and to press both the State and Central authorities concerned for high level inquiry to punish all those involved at the earliest in the interest of the State.

A party insider said during the meeting, details of some of important corruption scams of the present Congress government including the Loktak Lake scam were tabled for discussion.

Another case discussed was the corruption charges against the Manipur Development Society in implementing centrally sponsored projects in the State.

Rampant corruption in the departments of Health, Minor Irrigation, Irrigation and Flood Control and others like Arts and Culture, Youths Affairs and Sports, HRD etc. were also highlighted during the meeting, the source added.

Further according to the source, the BJP executive meeting also discussed the misuse of State Plan funds under unknown heads of accounts like the Special Development Fund, misuse of Central government funds meant for tourism development in the State and in the public distribution system, corruption in recruitment in State Police department, ICDS, agriculture extension programmes, horticulture mission and other developmental programmes etc.

Chaoba also addressed the meeting touching on the discussions of the BJP National Executive meeting which was held on March 19 and 20 in the national capital.

He also highlighted the growth of BJP in the State and appealed to the party workers to maintain unity and strengthen the party furthermore.

MP Prahlad in his address emphasised on the need for cooperation among the members of the party in improving the party position considering the upcoming elections in the State including the General Assembly elections due by the first part of 2017.

He further asked the party leaders and workers to observe the party foundation day on April 6 and birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Baba Saheb Ambedkar from April 14 to 24 in a befitting manner up to the Mandal level, the party source added.
