IMPHAL, Apr 2: A general body meeting of the Joint Action Committee against the Killing of Laishram Chinglemba alias Naopa held today at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai Community Hall has resolved to accept the dead body of the deceased presently lying in the mortuary of the Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for cremation and pay homage to the departed soul for cremation.
The order passed by the Government of Manipur on April 1 signed by the Director General of Police, Manipur in connection with an FIR filed in Singjamei
Police Station was placed before the general assembly.
The meeting chaired by convener of the JAC S. Manihar also resolved to proceed with further course of action of the JAC with CSOs and human rights organizations for early submission of charge sheet and punishment thereof in connection with the brutal killing of Chinglemba by Sub-Inspector Veerjit alias Chaoba Singh.
It decided to intensify the protest in the event of the investigating agency, not filing the charge sheet within a period of three months from today.
The meeting further resolved to convene a press conference with the print and electronic media for wide circulation to the concerned authority and the general public.
