FACEO observes ‘Athoubasinggi Ningsing Numit’ at Cheiraoching

IMPHAL, April 14: The Families’ Committee for Observation of the 13th April observed the ‘Athoubasinggi Ningsing Numit’ at Cheirao Ching on Wednesday.

The committee observed a one minute silence at memorial site as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

According to a press statement issued by S Jameskumar, convenor FACEO that since 1990, the committee has been observing every year in remembrance of the slain PLA cadres in the Kodompokpi incident which took placed in 1982.

As compare to previous year, the committee’s annual observation was a succees. There was no restriction of security personals as in the previous year, the statement said.

The committee further expressed their gratitude to all those who supported in making the observation successful.

It may be mentioned that thousands of people including family members, relatives and well wishers of the slain cadre gave floral tribute at the memorial site.

Speaking to this reporter, one of the relatives of a slain cadre Manglembi, 74 from Andro said that the incident which happened in 1982 seem to be just yesterday.

She said she felt vindicated to come to the memorial and prepared homage to the slain cadre.

Achoubi of Kongpal, mother of another slain cadre maintained that she felt like meeting his lost son while coming for floral tribute.

Meanwhile, the committee members and well wishers also held the observation at Tekcham of Thoubal district and Komdompokpi of Bishnupur district.
