Langol Tarung celebrates foundation day cum cultural festival

IMPHAL, April 18: Thangmeiband MLA Th Joykishan today promised to complete the black topping of the Inter Village Road connecting Lagol Tarung Village to Thangmeiband before the arrival of the rainy season.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the two-day long Langol Tarung Village Foundation Day cum cultural festival organised by the Langol Tarung Village Authority held at the village community hall.

In his speech, Joykishan alleged that the present State government has been neglecting Tarung village.

He said during the recent Budget session of the State Assembly, he had taken up the issues confronting the village including proper supply of drinking water and black topping of the IVR.

However, it is unfortunate that there is still no action on the issues, he said.

Joykishan further promised to supply drinking water in the village by constructing a reservoir from his own pocket.

He also promised to construct a village youth office building and to provide other facilities for empowerment of the youths saying that they are the future pillar of the society.

He further announced to provide financial aid to the medical students of Tarung Village.

Joykishan stressed that Tarung Village has taken an important role in strengthening the State integrity. He said different communities are settled in this village.

Tarung village chairman Meishongku Phaomei said that the village was settled during the reign of King Garib Niwaz.

The chairman said that the village has a close relation with the Meitei-Maharajas’.

He further said that now, over 16 different communities are settled in the village.
