Lilong meet resolves to bring amicable solution to present tension

IMPHAL, April 15: A peace and harmony meeting was convened today at the Lilong Bazar organised jointly by the All Manipur Muslim Organisations` Coordinating Committee, All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation and Lilong Municipal Council, said a statement of the AMMSO.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various organisations including United Committee Manipur vice president Sunil Karam, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation vice president Ph Deben Sharma, Committee of Civil Society Kangleipak vice president N Chingkehinganbi, Coalition for Indigenes’ Rights Campaign Manipur secretary S Rajendra Kumar, Lilong Municipal Council (Thoubal) chairperson Md Madni Ali, SNC vice president Md Basir Ahmad, AMMSO president Md Farid Khan and Women’s Association for Social Economic Development Organisation vice president M Nirmala Leima.

It said the meeting also took several resolutions which include that both the Meitei and Meitei Pangal communities will ensure that no more communal tension is aroused.

The meeting further strongly condemned the act of few individuals to lead the issue on communal lines and disintegrate Manipur, it said.

Other resolutions include that bandhs and blockades will not be allowed to be imposed on communal issues and even if bandhs and blockades are to be imposed in between Lilong and Usoipokpi, it should be under the local clubs and organisations, it said.

Further according to the statement, it was also resolved if anyone is caught stealing, the person should be handed over to the concerned authorities instead of delivering mob justice and proper justice be delivered.

It was also resolved that both the communities will help in bringing a solution to the issue by sitting together with all JACs formed in connection to the incident and the government.
