IMPHAL, Apr 26: The first lady Padmashree awardee of the State Lhingjaneng Gangte w/o (L) Dr TS Gangte, former Director Education passed away last night at 10:30 pm, in Dimapur, Nagaland. She was 79 yrs old.
Her last days were spent with her 2nd daughter Patkim Gangte Imsong and family. She is survived by her three children out of four, and grandchildren.
She was the first Manipuri woman to receive the prestigious Padmashree award, for her dedication in the field of Social Welfare movement in Manipur. Her funeral service will be held at Churachandpur on April 28.
A funeral service was organised at Seventh day Adventist church, Chingmeirong, next to Eastern Motors at around 4pm today before proceeding to Churachandpur for her final resting place.
