‘MLA Loken interfering in distribution of ration cards’

BISHNUPUR, April 19: At a time when the ambitious Food Security Act is slated to be implemented in the State from April 25, councillors of Nambol Municipal Council have alleged that MLA of Nambol constituency N Loken is interfering in dispatching card to ration card holders of the council, who will be the beneficiaries under the act.

Addressing a press meet at Nambol today, Chairperson of Nambol Municipal Council L Biramani strongly decried the act of the MLA of depriving right of urban development body against the act and rule of Municipal Council.

He said that a notice was issued informing that the MLA and local bodies should co-operate Councillors of the council in dispatching ration cards to the deserving beneficiaries.

Members of 11 Wards of the council went to the office of SDO Nambol this noon to collect ration card to be distributed to the beneficiaries but it was denied by the local MLA who was present at the office, the Chairperson contended.

He charged the MLA of abusing Councillor of Ward No 9 Ch Basanta at the office, saying that the work of dispatching ration card is to be done only by the former.

Expressing strong resentment over non-issuance of official order on distribution of ration card, immediate publicity and over-power on the Councillors; he said that the act of the MLA of interfering in works to be executed by the elected Councillors is unfortunate.

The Chairperson warned the MLA of seeking legal action if the latter continues to interfere in works of the Councillors.

Councillor Ch Basanta said that the MLA’s act of abusing him is highly condemnable.

He added that such act of the MLA who is the people’s representative for the constituency should not repeat in future.
