NPP national president Conrad Sangma opens NPP Manipur Chapter office

IMPHAL, April 20: The office of National People’s Party (NPP) Manipur chapter was on Wednesday opened by their National president Conrad Sangma at Mahatma Gandhi Avenue here in the State followed by a series of meetings of the office bearers.

Sangma told media persons in a press conference held after handing over an appointment letter to ex MLA Thangminlen Kipgen appointed as the president of the Manipur chapter, that following the sudden death of his father and former NPP chief P A Sangma, he was unanimously appointed as the national president by the national election committee.

The sudden death of PA Sangma is a big lost to the nation particularly to NPP, said his son during the press conference.

NPP which has grown to become a national party was formed to bring development and to highlight the problems of the NE people to the Centre, he added.

Ajang Khongsai, national general secretary of the party was appointed as adhoc Manipur president and had looked after the party earlier clarified the National president.

Being a political party “we are gearing up for the coming up State general election in 2017” but can’t say at the moment whether the party will contest in the coming IMC election, he said.

However, the decision will be in the hands of Manipur Chapter president, he added.

The National president was accompanied by Arwin Netam, National working president NPP, Thomas A Sangma ex MP and National general secretary, Meghalaya MLAs James K Sangma and Nihim D Shira, National general secretary Ch. Ajang Khongsai andNPP, Manipur president Thangminlen Kipgen.
