RIMS non-teaching staffs demand regularisation of contract staffs

IMPHAL, Apr 19: The Non-Teaching Employees’ Welfare Association of the RIMS today resolved during its general body meeting to urge the concerned authority of RIMS to regularise the present contractual staffs and stop appointing contractual staffs again.

This was stated by the association’s vice president Dr W Ranbir Singh during a press conference at RIMS held at the end of the GB meeting.

He added during the meeting, the association had discussed issues like service matter of the non-teaching employees, the present demands of the contractual staffs and other related issues.

There are altogether 285 contractual staffs whose pay scale was upgraded to Rs 5250 plus grade pay; however, they have never been entitled the 50 percent DA allowances, he added.

He said there is a need to regularise the contract staffs and abolish the practice of taking contractual staff once and for all for the sustainable growth of the institute.

He further demanded the authority to review their promotion for every five years according to the Government of India norms.

The contractual staffs are suffering from numerous problems and under such circumstances the authorities inviting applications for 134 regular posts is condemnable, he added.

The authorities should first address the grievances of the present contract workers, he added.

He said that if the concern authority failed to respond to their demands by April 21 then the association will further demonstrate stronger forms of agitation.
