IMPHAL, Apr 21: The Regional Institute of handicapped person Yairipok Bamol Leikai today organised a 15-km tricycle race for the differently abled persons at Thoubal District near the KM Blooming Higher Secondary School.
The race was flagged off by SSA ZEO Thoubal district Coordinator for Disability Binodini Devi.
Thangjam Joykumar Singh, 31, son of Nabadeep Singh of Yairipok khongshang Wangkhem Joysana Meitei, 28, son of Tolpishak Meitei of Lamlongei Awang Leikai and Md Hussain Ahamed son of Yaima of Yairipok Tulihal were adjudged the first, second and third of the race.
Speaking on the occasion, RIHP secretary Shamulailatpam Kunjabihari Sharma said the race was organised to show that the diffirently abled persons were also able to do what the abled persons can.
The race was flagged off from Khangabok Bazar and concluded at the RIPH campus at Yairipok Bamol Leikai. He further appealed to the parents of differently abled persons not to hide their children in their homes but to bring them out and expose them to converge with the others.
