URF clarifies it never interfered in thabal chongba

IMPHAL, April 10: United Revolutionary Front of Manipur (Ngangom Soviet alias Chingkheinganba faction) has clarified in regards to the scuffle the party had with the locals of Napet Palli on April 8, that the incident was not at all related with Thabal Chongba.

The faction’s general secretary, Diamond Khuman, said this during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, also demanded the release of it publicity secretary Brama Irom.

It may mentioned that angered by distasteful acts of URF cadres, Napet Palli locals burn down the outfit’s designated camp and also the locals have also resolved not to allow entry or setting up of camp of any outfit in the Lamlai area.

Clarifying on the indicent, Diamond said that the incident occurred when some people in a car with high beam was asked by a cadre on sentry to lower the light, and this led to the confrontation.

Chairman of the outfit, Soviet, hearing the incident came out and tried to tame the situation and said that the situation worsen when the persons in the car started to tear the chairman’s shirt.

He further said it was very unfortunate that their designated camp was burnt down by the locals on a baseless allegation.

He also clarified that their cadres never roam around outside the camp with arms and said that they follow the ground rules laid down by the government very strictly.

He said that in the stone pelting, two of their cadres and the wife of another cadre received injury, adding one of the injured is in serious state.

He said that four rounds of double barrel was blank fired from their side in self-defence and said that they do have 12 licensed guns but the licenses were burnt during the incident.

Diamond said that ever since the incident, the cadre have been putting up at the hill top of Napet palli Kalika Lai mathak, nearby their previous designated camp and said that the cadres with consent with their chairman will ask Inspector General of the Home Department for another site as their designated camp has been destroyed.
