World Homoeopathic Day observed

IMPHAL, April 10: Commemorating the 261st birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemamn, father of Homoeopathy, Homeopathic Medical Association, Manipur (HMAM) along with Kangleipak Medical & Nursing Institute observed the World Homoeopathic Day at the hall of the institute at Khurai Konsam Leikai, Imphal East today.

The observance was attended by MLA Karam Shyam as chief guest; retired Director Health Services Dr W Motilal Singh as president and All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) president Wangkhemcha Shyamjai as guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Karam Shyam said that the Manipur is rich in medicinal plants therefore it is necessary to identify various medicinal plants grown to make best uses of it.

He appealed to the concerned experts to give awareness to the general public on the uses of various medicinal plants in different purposes so that they can generate their own incomes through the plants.

He further appealed to preserve and promote medicinal plants knowing its importance.

Dr W Motilal asserted that with the advancement of science and technology, homoeopathic doctors can cure serious diseases which other cannot do.

He said that the State government has established separate department for homeopathic and treatments under AYUSH.

Motilal further said that the State government is constructing a 50-bedded hospital for homoeopathic at Lamphelpat.

Over 150 homeopathic doctors have been appointed by the government, he informed.

W Shamjai said that health plays an important part in the State but it is unfortunate that there is no specialization in health reporting.

HMAM general secretary Dr H Temba Singh spoke on the life history of Dr Hahnemann and homoeopathy in the new millennium.
