Yesterday’s violence unfortunate: Dr Ratankumar

IMPHAL, April 12: Mayang Imphal MLA Dr Ratankumar said yesterday’s violence in his constituency is unfortunate and such incidents with communal tinge should be avoided at all cost. Dr Ratankumar who is the new State Education minister visited the violence affected areas of Konchak and Bengoon Maning in Mayang Imphal today.

He told media persons that the people should maintain peace and communal harmony at all times.

He visited the homes which were burned down and the families of those injured during yesterday’s violence during a general strike imposed against the death of two youth who were allegedly beaten up by a mob for trying to steal a moped.

Violence can only bring negative and chaotic situations in the society, he observed.

The damages caused to the homes, shops and other business establishment and injuries to the people is lamentable, he added.

He said he has further appealed to the concerned authorities to investigate the incidents to bring out the truth.

We should find the cause of the ugly incident, he said while appealing to the people to maintain peace.

The minister had also provided some monetary aid to the affected families as an immediate relief.
