2 witnesses depose in I Roger murder case

IMPHAL, May 17: Two more prosecution witnesses deposed before the Special CBI Court of Sessions Court Imphal West in the Irom Roger murder case today. Roger was shot dead at Tiddim road on May 20, 2011,
Soram (O) Kamala Devi and Langam Kumar Meetei of Luwangsangbam deposed as prosecution witnesses number 55 and 56 respectively regarding the trial case under Sessions trial number 3/1215/13/55/2013 with ref RC 2 (s) 2011 Imphal CBI with reference to FIR number 131 (3) 2011 of Singjamei police station under Section 302 IPC and 27 A Act. Later the Court fixed June 3 as the next date of hearing of the case. Prime accused N Ajay (30) s/o N Biren of Luwang-shangbam Mamang Leikai also appeared before the Court during today’s trial hearing.
It may be mentioned that a few days after the killing of Irom Roger on March 20, 2011, the State Cabinet decided to hand over the case to CBI.
Since then, CBI Imphal branch has been investigating the case under Section 302/34 and 27A Act.
CBI had already submitted a charge sheet against N Ajay in mid-2012.
Altogether 70 prosecution witnesses were listed by CBI in its charge sheet.
It may also be mentioned that four co-accused namely Soram Raju of Nagamapal Soram Leirak, Bachaspati Mayum Roshinikumar Shar-ma alias Tolly of Brahmapur Thangapat Mapal, Thongbam Anilkumar alias Dhruba of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai and Puyam Sidhartha alias Boy of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai Oinam Thingel Leirak had been discharged from the case by the Court in 2012.
