IMPHAL, May 20: An unclaimed body was today handed over to Imphal Municipal authorities by police with permission from the district magistrate.
The dead body was of a thief who was thrashed to death by a mob after he tried to sneak into a house to steal at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai under Lamphel Police Station on May 17 around 3 am.
Police had registered a case in connection with the incident and the dead body was lying at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) morgue for identification.
