Drafting committee submits memo to Chief Minister

IMPHAL, May 19: Amidst stiff opposition from several tribal bodies to reconsider sending of all party delegation to Delhi, the all party Drafting Committee submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh today.

According to highly reliable sources, the memorandum was submitted during a lengthy meeting convened today at the conference hall of Chief Minister official residence. The meeting reportedly started from 3 pm and lasted till 5.30 pm.

It has been informed that after minute discussion both sides unanimously agreed on the points reflected on the memorandum.

It may be mentioned that the memorandum prepared by the Drafting Committee is due to be submitted to the President of India, Prime Minister and other Union Ministers, by an all political party delegation.

A list of delegates to be part of the delegation to meet the Prime Minister, have been reportedly sent to the Prime Minister’s Office and awaiting for the approval.

The sources further speculated that the delegation is likely to leave Imphal on May 23 and meet the Union leaders including the PM within May 24 to 26.
