IMPHAL, May 25: The Independent Candidate of Imphal Municipal Council Joy Kabui of ward number 21 of Wangkhei has performed his ritual flag hosting ceremony today.
The flag hoisting ceremony of independent candidate of Ward No 21 Joy Kabui was held today at Dimdailong village in New Checkon. As a part of the ceremony, women from his IMC ward offered him presents and wished him the best at the elections.
Village leaders including chief Ph Lungaiphun, Secretary Namthanpung Village authority Mani Gonmei and senior citizens Makusing Kamei and Angom Ibopishak were present.
In the sideline Boyes Kom, Secretary Election committee, said that Joy Kabui who is contesting on an Independent ticket has a distinct advantage due to the fact that he can ally with any successful party whether it be BJP or Congress.
In the present situation, independent candidates have higher chances of success and many sitting councillors are fighting on independent tickets. He predicted that independent candidate will sweep this coming IMC election adding that Joy is the best candidate in the fray in his ward with over 30 years of social work behind him.
