Kids save friend from drowning

IMPHAL, May 2: In a heart-touching incident, a six-year-old girl was saved from drowning in Wangjing-Tentha River in Thoubal district by two of her friends who alerted the nearby villagers. The incident took place on April 27 at around 9.50 am.

Six-year-old Naorem Sunibala, daughter of N Surmani of Tentha Khunou was returning from school along with her friends Moirangthem Neroda Devi, 6 daughter of M Sana and Maibam Soniya, 6 daughter of M Premsagar of the same locality, when she accidentaly fell into into the Wangjing-Tentha River while crossing the bamboo bridge, according to locals.

There was no one nearby the river when the incident occurred. Sensing their friend to be in danger, Neroda and Soniya came crying and alerted the nearby villagers, informed the locals.

Immediately, the villagers rushed to the river and saved the girl child from drowning.

Sunibala was admitted to Thoubal District Hospital where she was administered first aid treatment.

Later, she was shifted to Raj Medicity for further treatment, the locals said.

Her health condition is said to be out of danger now.

All three girls are studying Class I at the United Public School, Wangjing Tentha
