IMPHAL, May 7: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Manipur state, has said its stance on re-implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the state is steadfast.

A statement issued by the NCP general secretary, S Iboyaima Singh, spelled out series of activities taken up by the party in various levels in support of the implementation of ILP system in Manipur.

It pointed out that Laishom Ibomcha, MLA and state president of NCP, on November 8, 2012 met the former Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprise and National general secretary, Praful Patel, wherein the matter was discussed deliberately.

During the meeting, the MLA said a copy of the representation which was submitted to the then Prime Minister of India by Committee on Inner Line Permit System, was also submitted to Praful Patel by the MLA, it said.

In addition to that, re-implementation of the ILP system was also included as one of the prior agenda in the election manifesto of the party during the parliamentary election held in 2014.

Maintaining that its stance in favour of implementation of ILP in Manipur is steadfast, it said that the State NCP team again met the former Union Minister at his bungalow and further pursue the matter. The team met the former Union Minister during the recent PAC meeting held in the national capital on April 9, 2015, it said.

Highlighted its relentless effort, the statement further said that the lone representative of NCP in the Manipur legislative assembly also supported the three bills adding that they are surprised by the adamant attitude of the Indian Government who has been suppressing the bill.

It said the Government of India should come with a clear decision with regards to the implementation or non-implementation rather than remaining a mute spectator.

Reacting to the statement of the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), the statement termed the apathy shown by ANSAM towards the three bills past in favour of implementation of ILP in Manipur, as unfortunate.

It questioned why the ANSAM did not take the trouble to remove or rectify ILP system, which is effective in Nagaland, if it is concerned about the implementation of the same in Manipur.

The ‘hypocrisy’ of ANSAM should be reacted by all the section of the society in Manipur including the Manipur Government, all the political parties, NGOs and general public.

Contending that the loss of 9 innocent lives aftermath the passing of the three bill in Churachandpur district is a serious matter, it urged all the sections of the society including the Government to resolved the issue amicably.
