Nongkam Satang IVR, playground and power service inaugurated

CHANDEL, May 15: The inter village road between Nongkam Satang and Lamlong Khunou Lamkhai, a public playground and electricity service in Nongkam Satang village in Chandel district were inaugurated by Commissioner of Horticulture & soil conservation, T Panmei yesterday.

The inaugural function was held at Nongkam Satang village after ribbon cutting ceremony by Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum and unveiling of the monument by the commissioner.

Chandel DC Robert Singh presided over the inaugural function which was also attended by Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) president Ws Kanral Anal and HL Lovingson, special contractor as guests of honour.

Nongkam Satang is a remote Maring Naga tribe village which is located along the Indo-Myanmar border. According to villagers, it was established in 1954 and became a revenue village in 1958.

Convener of Nongkam Satang Master Planning Committee, R Koyaingam, while delivering the welcome and introduction address on the occasion, thanked the presidium members for taking all the trouble to reach the remote village which according to him happened after forty years.

While appreciating the villagers and other concerned organizations for their hard work and co-operation in completing the project, Chandel DC Robert assured to extend all possible help in further development of the village.

Village authority should be aware of their responsibility in implementing developmental schemes of the government in the village, Robert added.

Horticulture and soil conservation commissioner T Panmei while speaking on the occasion advised the village development planning authority to revised the present plan they have now, look beyond hundred years and come out with far sighted plan with innovative ideas and vision as he said, ‘government waits innovative ideas from the village planning authority , nowadays’.

He also advocated use of solar energy, a green technology with low cost and good for environment, for the village saying that it would stop them depending on the present electricity which might took years to restore when disaster occurred.

Ws Kanral Anal in his speech made an appeal for fostering peace in the region saying that when there is peace there will be development.

Special contractor, Hl Lovingson asserted that transparency and accountability among the village authority would help to bring development in the long run.

L Stephen Modar Dangshawa thanked the dignitaries, invitees for making the programe a success. Moreover, he specially thanked the health minister DK Korungthang for all the initiatives and help in making the village come true. He also thanked ADC executive members including Chairman Lhukhosei Zou for the financial contribution.

The programe was attended by villagers from the surrounding village.
