School property found auctioned

IMPHAL, May 5: In a stunning revelation, property belonging to Phoudel Upper Primary School under Wangkhem Assembly Constituency in Thoubal district was found auctioned by a local club.

Surprisingly, headmaster of the school declared holiday for the school form more than a year.

Taking serious note of the development, a press meet was held at the premises of Ever Living Youth Sporting Association (ELYSA), Phoudel today wherein it resolved that the government should intervene into the matter at the earliest or else hold sole responsible for any untoward incidents arise thereof.

Addressing the press meet, founder headmaster of the school Md Abdul Hassan said that the government school was set up in 1960 and its class commenced from 1962-63 after constructing tabular structure and building of the school.

The school has been upgraded to the level of Upper Primary, he maintained, alleging that secretary of Phoudel Youth Club (PYC) Phoudel Mamang Leikai auctioned properties of the school including its tabular structure made by iron at the time when intake of students in the school was increasing.

He also alleged that headmaster of the school, Khumanthem Rajeshwor Singh declared holiday for the school from 2014 to 16 without any concrete reasons.

Stating that students of the school coming from poor families have been put at stake due to such negligence by the school authority, he lamented that mid-meal for the school is also deprived.

He reiterated that ZEO, Zone III, Thoubal was repeatedly apprised of the deprivation but no necessary step has been taken up so far which is unacceptable.

Villagers of Phoudel and members of ELYSA were also present at the press meet.
