Sharmila stays away

Marathon hunger striker Irom Chanu Sharmila today refused to appear before JMIC, Imphal West. Although, she was supposed to appear before CJM Imphal West, Sharmila was directed to appear before JMIC Imphal as the Judge of the former Court was on leave.However, the anti-AFSPA campaigner refused to appear before the Court. The Court fixed May 31 as the next date of hearing.

Sharmila has been appearing before the Court every fortnight regarding the case taken up by City police station in the first week of March under Section 309 (attempting to commit suicide) for staging hunger strike at BT Park in February this year. City police station has already submitted a charge sheet against Sharmila.
