IMPHAL, May 13: A team of Group Young Mizo Association (GYMA), , Chiengkawn branch left for Saichang area, Henglep subdivision, Ccpur district to provide relief materials to the calamity-affected victims of the area.
The team led by CV Duhawma, president, GYMA and ST Gangte, chairman of the YMA Relief Committee left Chiengkawnpang bazar, Ccpur today morning around 7. About 30 volunteers transported the relief materials, which were donated by various philanthropic organisations, in eight vehicles.
It may be mentioned that about 200 houses were extensively ravaged by a hailstorm that lashed Saichang area in the morning of April 23 last. YMA Chiengkawn branch has set up a relief committee to respond to the calamity.
The team will distribute relief materials —60 bundles of GCI sheet and 130 bags of rice, to the affected families at nine villages. They will return tomorrow after distributing the materials at D Loupum, Saichang, Kawnpi, Maumuol, K Zoar, Santing-I, Santing-L, Chongchin and C Zalen.
