A police officer on anonymity told The Sangai Express that security personnel were mobilized to prevent any untoward incident which might erupt at any moment. It may be mentioned that the Student Wing of JCILPS announced its decision to launch a series of protests if the Chief Minister and all political parties fail to press the Union Govt by May 27 for conversion of the three Bills passed by the State Govt last year into Acts in order to save the indigenous people of Manipur. At this critical juncture when any form of protest or agitation can erupt any moment, beefing up security measures can be the best option to avert any collateral damage to public and private property, the officer added.
Mobile police vehicles were also seen at different strategic locations across Imphal city. Police barricades and regular police patrol were also put in place at different locations where frequent protests erupted in the past.
