Ratan resigns, Bijoy to lead JCILPS

IMPHAL, June 3: JCILPS Convenor Khomdram Ratan has resigned from his post with immediate effect in the wake of the controversial photo which surfaced in Facebook.

Making the announcement co-convenor Arjun Telheiba said that Bijoy Kumar Moirangcha has assumed charge as the convenor i/c and the ILPS movement will continue under his leadership.

The announcement was made during a press conference.

He said that Khomdram Ratan has submitted a written resignation to the executive committee of the JCILPS on moral grounds and his resignation was accepted.

BK Moirangcha said, the JCILPS strongly condemn the baseless allegation against that Ratan is a member of an outlawed organisation in social media.

He said that the state government was in a haste to issue an arrest warrant against Ratan without proper investigation. He said, it is necessary to trace the original post so that that the motive is revealed to the public.

Bijoy asserted the picture which is doing the rounds in the social media of Khomdram Ratan holding a flag is a doctored picture.

The doctored picture has been spread on purpose to derail and suppress the public movement demanding ILP implementation in the State by scrupulous persons with vested interests, he observed.

He continued that the committee has learnt that representatives of the All Political Parties Committee have left for Delhi to seek the President’s assent to the three bills passed by the State Assembly last year on August 31.

He continued, however, if the delegates return to the State empty handed stronger forms of agitations will follow.

He further appealed to the people to support the movement which aims to safeguard the indigenous people of the land.

He said the ongoing agitation seeking enactment of the bills is for safeguarding the indigenous population and not to break the tranquillity and unity of the State.

Bijoy also lamented the reported incident of attacks on the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur Branch and appealed to the society to continue with their ambulance service in the State.

Arjun said the baseless allegation hurled against Ratan has confused the people.
