Rock band ‘Phynyx’ extends support to orphanage

IMPHAL, June 4: In support of orphans in the state, front man of the pioneer rock band from the State ‘Phynyx’ Len Gangte along with band members today donated a Table Tennis board to an orphanage located at Taloulong, Kanglatombi.

Speaking on the occasion, Len Gangte said the band had conducted a charitable concert on May 1 on the theme ‘Encore’ at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre to raise fund for orphans.

He said the show was a success and had even received support from the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Deputy Speaker MK Preshaw Shimray and state DGP LM Khaute, IPS.

He also lauded the man behind the event Akham Romi Singh for his contribution to the band and appealed to all like-minded organisations to extend support to orphanages.

The Phynnx band was formed in October 1991. Len Gangte said that the silver jubilee of the band will be celebrated with a rock show.

Secretary ‘Compassion Children’s Home’ and former MBC general secretary Rev Vumthang Sitlhou showing gratitude to the donor said that the Home is financially supported solely form church and from friends like Len Gangte.

He said that the orphanage home was established in the year 2007 and is registered under the JJ Act Social Welfare department.

The orphanage now has 47 children who are provided education by the Home, he said before adding that the home has two students in BA 1st year and 3rd year.

He said that the home lacks sports facility especially for girls and donation of Table Tennis board and bats is very appreciable.

Children Home secretary expressed that the home had been appreciated to be one of the best in region by many visiting guests and army officers recently.
