Govt deposited money in Ratan’s account: JAC

IMPHAL, Jul 12: The JAC constituted against declaration of wanted tag on former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan has said that the balance available in Ratan’s frozen bank account was not provided by any banned organisation but deposited by the State Government to help those who were injured in the pro-ILPS movement.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, coordinator of the JAC Chandsana said that it was unfortunate to file a counter affidavit comprising 75 different cases by Imphal West SP against Khomdram Ratan at the High Court of Manipur.
Even damage of vehicles and injuries suffered by protesters had been registered as FIR cases against the former JCILPS convenor in the counter affidavit although the State Government had agreed not to do so in an MoU signed with JCILPS on September 1, 2015, he said.
In the same MoU, the Government also promised to deposit some amount to provide help to those who suffer- ed injury in pro-ILPS agita-tions, he said.
As such, Imphal West DC transferred the amount to the bank account of Khomdram Ratan, he claimed.
JAC representatives along with the volunteers of different women organisations met Chief Minister Okram Ibobi yesterday, he said and added that the Chief Minister assured them to look into the matter.
He further said that they also met Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today.
Chandsana said that the JAC would continue their stir demanding revocation of the wanted tag and implementation of ILPS.
