3.5 magnitude quake hits Myanmar-India border, damage in Manipur

Manipur, November 24: Manipur today was hit by an earthquake of moderate intensity early in the morning. The focus of the earthquake centred around the India-Myanmar border region. The disaster struck at 1:28 am (IST). The damage was minimal as no casualties or damage to property have been reported so far.

Confirming the occurrence of the quake at the border region between Myanmar and the Indian state of Manipur this morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a bulletin. The bulletin by the IMD specified that the quake had its epicentre at latitude 24.7°N and longitude 94.9°E. It further added that the earthquake occurred at 07:36 hours and at a focal depth of 48 kilometres.In a separate incident on Thursday.

In a separate incident on Thursday, of 6.1 magnitude. However, there was no fear of a tsunami.This is the second time in a week that the Japanese coast has been hit by an earthquake. Just 2 days back Japan had been hit by a huge quake on the Fukushima prefecture, triggering huge panic about the safety of the nuclear power plant situated there.
