IMPHAL, Jan 29 : Crowd favourite and Asian Games bronze medallist Laishram Sarita outboxed 59-pro bout veteran Zsofia Bedo of Hungary in her first professional outing at the Indoor stadium of Khuman Lampak sports complex today evening.
Buoyed by the large home crowd, Sarita lived up to the pre-bout billing and outboxed her fancied rival in the first professional bout in the State-IBC Fight Night.
The tough preparations and the sweats obviously paid off as Sarita outboxed her rival convincingly in despatching her rival 40-34, 40-34, 40-34.
Experience did not count much as the Asian Games medallist landed blows when it mattered and emerged the runaway winner.
With today’s loss, Zsofia Bedo now has 40 losses to her name in 60 professional bouts. She has won 19 bouts so far.
Sarita dominated the bout from the first round landing blows continuously and keeping up her guard effectively.
Dedicating the win to the people of Manipur, a beaming Sarita acknowledged the continued support she has received from the people and added that she will continue with her professional boxing.
