Guwahati, 16th March, 2017: Following the tremendous response from filmmakers and general public in its previous four editions, along with its growing popularity each year, the organisers of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival are back with the fifth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Short Film Contest this year.

The Brahmaputra Valley Short Film Contest is organized to give upcoming talented filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their films and network with established national filmmakers. The contest is open for film makers from Northeast India as well as to any filmmaker whose film has been shot or filmed in Northeast India or features stories/topics related to Northeast India. Interested filmmakers can submit short films with duration of 10 minutes or less through online as well as offline. Last date of submission of entries is 30th June 2017. Online submission can be done by filling up the registration form available at the festival website www.bvff.in. Offline submissions can be done by sending the film in a DVD along with the hard copy of the filled registration form. The registration form can be downloaded from the festival website.

The short films will be judged by renowned filmmakers from the region and Bollywood. The top 10 submissions will be screened at the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival this year to be held in Guwahati. The top three winners will not only be awarded with prize money worth over Rs 2 lacs but they will also get a chance to work with nationally acclaimed film directors.

One of the guests last year was the renowned Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who had appreciated this endeavour, and the talent that this festival has been bringing under one roof for the past few years. “I feel they (the people of Northeast) have more heart for story, songs than anybody else; and I would want all the people of the northeast to discover that about their culture , about their own people, about their own heart, because your story, your music , your heart are perhaps are most refined”, he said.

The Brahmaputra Valley Short Films Contest and Film Festival are initiatives of Tattva Creations, a strategic integrated communications and event management organisation based in Guwahati, Assam.
