NPF condemns alleged assault

IMPHAL, Mar 4 : Naga People’s Front, Manipur State Unit has strongly condemned the alleged barbaric act of Col AK Singh, CO, 14 Sikh Regiment Tamei who allegedly assaulted Ab Lebira, chairman of Nurathel village on March 3.
In a statement, NPF said that Ab Lebira along with the chairman of Tabam was travelling towards Imphal when they were stopped near Tamei diesel pump. The chairmen were asked to identify themselves to which they complied. Apart from abusing them verbally, Ab Lebira was physically assaulted by the CO.
“The act is an insult to the uniform which the army officer was wearing. This is an insult to the Nation, NPF and Indian democracy. If an army officer whose duty is to protect the Nation and the citizens work openly in support of a particular party, where is the integrity and sanctity of the Indian army? The Central Government should immediately take up stern action against the CO or else NPF will not remain silent,” the statement said.
