Rahul calls Modi liar, problem creator‘Modi Has Failed To Convince On Framework Agreement Remarks’
“Even chief minister O Ibobi Singh and the state government are not aware of it,” he said and asked as to why people of Manipur are being kept in the dark about the contents of the agreement.“Soon after signing the agreement with NSCN-IM leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed my mother (Sonia Gandhi) but refused to give details of the agreement de-spite claiming it as a historic one, Rahul said adding that contents of the agreement are known none other than Narendra Modi himself.Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several promises to the people of Manipur but none of the projects he announced for the state have been implemented. “Wherever Narendra Modi goes, he spreads lies, hatred and enmity among brothers apart from making false promises,” Rahul said.
He further accused the PM of leveling baseless allegations of corruption against the Ibobi Singh government. Referring to the Centre’s decision to scrap high-value currency notes, Rahul said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was compelled to demonetize Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes as he failed to bring back black money from foreign soil.
“Demonetisation has had an adverse impact on the livelihood of the poor people of the country. Farmers and labourers were the ones most affected due to it but none of the wealthy people were affected by the demonetisation policy,” he added.
While stating that only a Congress government can lead Manipur towards the path of development and prosperity, Rahul claimed that the O Ibobi government has been accelerating development in the state and his efforts in improving the power supply situation in the state was lauded even by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Not only this, Ibobi Singh government has been ahead of other states with regard to road construction under PMGSY and other sectors, he said and termed Modi’s allegations against the Ibobi-government as baseless and unfortunate.
Rahul Gandhi also conveyed that Congress party plans to have players of Manipur win Olympic gold medals in the near future along with assuring that the indigenous products of Manipur will be marketed throughout the world.
Chief minister O Ibobi Singh, who also spoke at the rally, too demanded that contents of the Framework Agreement be made public and uploaded on the internet so that the people can have a look at it and decide whether it will compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur or not.
Since the inception of Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, at least 90 ministers have visited the state but none of them announced any project for the state though they inaugurated projects sanctioned by the then UPA government. Prime Minister Modi lied by stating that Congress leaders were informed about the details of the pact, Ibobi has said.
The Chief Minister had on February 25 swiftly reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on the Naga peace accord, saying no Congress leaders were consulted by the Centre on the pact. Modi during a rally to campaign for BJP on Saturday had said the Centre shared details of the peace accord to Congress leaders.
“Modi should step down if he fails to name any Congress leader. No Congress leaders were consulted on this agreement,” Ibobi demanded. He also asked the Prime Minister to stop politicising sports and culture and criticised the Centre for rejecting the site selected for the National Sports University in Manipur.
AICC General Secretary and Manipur in-charge Dr CP Joshi was also present at the rally where Rahul launched a scathing attack on Modi over his corruption charges against Ibobi Singh.
