IMPHAL, Apr 25: Works Minister Th Biswajit along with PWD Chief Engineer (Building), Chief Engineer (National Highways) and other engineers and Manager of National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) inspected the ongoing construction works along National Highway 37 today.
Pointing out that the construction might be delayed a little due to unfavourable weather conditions, Th Biswajit said that plans for constructing and developing the Barak and Makru bridges are also underway.
“The Government had planned to finish construction of the 154 metres span Barak bridge and the 122 metres span Makru bridge within three years but taking into account the plight of the people, the new aim is to finish the bridges within a period of one and a half years”, he added.
The Minister further said that the construction work undertaken by the three companies, namely HVS Construction Pvt Ltd, Nidhi Creative Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Bharatiya Infra Project Ltd, under NHIDCL is a registered work for which Rs 145 crore was sanctioned.
“As soon as the construction is finished, the construction of double landing pavement would be taken up. National Highway 37 along with National Highway 2 and 102 would also be converted into four lane highways”, he said adding that necessary works are underway to prepare a DPR at the earliest.
