Nagaland: NPF on resignation of Chingwang Konyak

The Naga People’s Front is in receipt of a resignation letter from Mr Chingwang Konyak, ex Member of Parliament and former Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Nagaland.
The fact of the matter is that he is not a member of the NPF party and therefore, his resignation from the party is ridiculous and can only be attributed to his desire for cheap publicity and to create confusion in the minds of the people. However, this is on expected lines since it has become obvious that some politically frustrated individuals have been doing some ground works to form a new political party for some time now having exhausted all means trying to destabilize the NPF-led DAN Government and damage the NPF party itself.
In a democratic set up such as ours, anyone can start a political party and participate in the democratic process. But it is most unbecoming of a person of the stature of the ex-MP to stoop so low as to resign from a party he never belonged to for the sake of a few brownie points in the media. Anyhow, with elections less than a year away, it shall not be very surprising to find in the local newspapers resignations of few disgruntled individuals and political opportunists in the days to come.

However, the party rank and file of the NPF remain steadfast under the leadership of party President Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu and we do not have an iota of doubt that the NPF-led DAN shall form the next Government after the elections in 2018. We appeal to the general public not to be swayed away by absurd political propaganda spread by politically-vested interests.
