Plots to topple Govt won’t succeed : Biren

IMPHAL, Apr 18: Accusing some people of plotting to topple his Government, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren has categorically stated that all such plots will end in failure.
Speaking as chief guest at a public function held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound on Rashtriya Vistarak Yojana in connection with Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya’s centenary celebration (September 25, 2016-September 25, 2017), Biren claimed that all attempts to topple the incumbent Government will end in failure and the Government will remain stable.

Earlier, people were asking what had the Government done. Now people are asking what would the Government do next.

Reiterating that some people have been working hard to topple the Government, the Chief Minister underscored the growing importance of maintaining unity and cordiality amongst the constituent parties of the coalition Government. Manipur has three things which are unique in the world. They are Sangai Festival, the game of Polo and the Shirui Lily Festival.

There was a gap among the hill people and plain people because no such festival was organised in hill areas in the past. The State Government would bear all expenditures of the Shirui Lily Festival and this would demonstrate before the whole world that the incumbent Government does not segregate between the hills and the valley, Biren asserted.

He further called upon one and all to shoulder due responsibilities so that the incumbent Government remains a pro-active one. The time for procuring empty cement bags and bamboo thatches during floods is over. Instead, the Government has been working to take up a number of preventive measures. There should be good governance, and the Government should be pro-people and pro-active, Biren asserted.

The State Government believes firmly in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan sabka saath, sabka vikas (work collectively for collective welfare), Biren added.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda, vice-president S Premananda, ex-president Sh Shantikumar and general secretary N Nimbus were also present at the gathering.
